Senior Manager, US & Canadian Tax
Joe began his career in 2005 at a “Big 4” accounting firm in Vancouver and obtained his Chartered Accountant designation (now Chartered Professional Accountant) in 2008. In 2010, he started work full time in the cross border tax space with a focus on personal US tax in the Fraser Valley office of a national accounting firm. He has since worked in the cross border tax practices at “Big 4” and smaller firms. He completed Levels 1 & 2 of the CICA In-Depth Tax Course in 2010-2012 and obtained his US Certified Public Accountant designation in 2013. His focus has been on tax compliance and tax planning for individuals with US and Canadian tax obligations, including US citizens living in Canada, Canadian residents doing business in the US, and others with US international individual tax needs.
In late 2023, Joe joined SKL to focus on cross border US individual tax work and to work directly with his clients in an office focused solely on his specialty.
Joe was born and raised in BC and graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Arts and later a Diploma in Accounting. He currently resides in North Vancouver with his wife and daughter. In his spare time, he spends time with his family and enjoys skiing, hiking, and listening to music at home and live at concerts.
